Qualifying for the House District 127 seat officially starts on Monday.
It was the seat for eleven years by Representative Quincy Murphy who died last month.
Wednesday, a third candidate publicly announced her plans to enter the race.
Dr. Diane Evans of Avera is a minister and secretary of the Georgia Association of Democratic County Chairs.
Evans says she wants to bring jobs to Jefferson County and provide a voice for those who are often ignored.
"When we look at our medicare and medicaid we need a voice in our general assembly that will say please do not cut things that our seniors need because they have paved the way for us," she says.
Quincy Murphy's widow, Diane, is also running to fill her husband's unexpired term.
This week, Brian Prince, announced his plans to run for the seat as well.
