ST PETERSBURG -

One of the larges observances in the nation of September 11th was held in St. Petersburg early Wednesday morning.

The observance was to remember, honor and support those who were victims of the terror attacks and the warriors who have gone into combat as a result.

Some of the nations highest ranking military officers were in attendance.

Admiral William McRaven, the head of U.S. Special Operations Command was there.  Admiral McRaven directed the operation that took down Osama Bin Laden.

Three Congressional Medal of Honor Recipients were at the morning breakfast as well as a number of combat wounded veterans.

They listened as Michael Fineo shared his story.  Fineo was a inter-dealer broker, working in the World Trade Center on September 11-th, 2001.

Fineo said, " September 11, 2001 was a gorgeous, warm sunny Tuesday."

Fineo said, the day started like many others, he arrived at work at 7:15 A.M., at 8:46 A.M. American Airlines flight 11 slammed into his building.

Fineo said, "I was knocked out of my chair.  I remember seeing colleagues who were standing struggling to catch their balance."

Holding back tears, Fineo described how he was able to get out of the building, while some of his co-workers were not.

Many in the room could understand his emotion as they to have survived traumatic events.

Command Sergeant Major Chris Faris is the top enlisted man at U.S. Special Operations Command.

CSM Faris said, " This is the 12th anniversary, it's been a long time and too often people can forget, so days like today to remember what happened to this nation and the things that brought us together and events like this to create what we used to call the September 12-th unity, that's what this is about to try and bring this together."
