What's in a name?
Controversy for Washington's NFL team. One of the country's leading sports journalists, Peter King of Sports Illustrated says he won't use the Redskins name anymore. He says he's "increasingly bothered by using the word."
He joins a growing list of sports writers. "My personal viewpoint is I don't want to use it anymore," said Washington Post writer Mike Wise. "It is something that I don't want to do, and I don't want to preach about it."
Some Native American groups are turning up the heat. "What flashes to my mind is our ancestors being skinned," said Jackie Pata of the National Congress of American Indians. "It is painful... it is hurtful and it is time that it changed."
One tribe running a radio ad calling on the NFL Commissioner to act.
"The term redskins is obviously wrong, insensitive and unacceptable."
But the owner of the franchise is adamant. Dan Snyder who became a billionaire in adversting and media is quoted as saying "We'll never change the name. It's that simple. Never - you can use caps."
