Today, SLED was officially recognized for recently getting national accreditation.
SLED becomes just the 33rd out of 272 law enforcement agencies in the Palmetto state to get nationally accredited.
Nationwide only about 1-half of 1 percent achieve that status.
The commission that decides accreditation goes through everything the agency does.
SLED's chief says being accredited makes the agency more accountable to the public and shows the agency is committed to the highest level of professionalism.
