HARLEM, GA (WJBF) -
The Harlem Bulldogs football team made history in their 28-7 win over Oglethorpe County on Friday. At 2-0, the usually downtrodden Bulldogs are off to their best start since 1981.
The two wins match the Bulldogs win total from the last two seasons combined. Coach Jimmie Lewis says the difference in this years team are the 17 senior providing leadership and the stout defensive which has forced 11 turnovers in the first two games.
"Being 2-0 is a lot better than being 0-2," Lewis said. "We're excited, we've been playing some good football - forcing turnovers off mistakes the other team has made has helped us win these two games."
Lewis adds, "The school is excited, the kids are excited and the community is excited. So hopefully it will make these kids work hard towards being 3-0."
The Bulldogs face Glascock county on Friday.
