Durham hosts first Bull City Music Awards

DURHAM, N.C. -

One of the Triangle's biggest cities was hopping Sunday night.

Downtown Durham held its first annual Bull City Music Awards.

It attracted hundreds to the city, which has struggled with crime and controversy in recent months. Those there were hoping it puts a spotlight on something good.

"It's really good for the music scene around here. We haven't had a light shined on us," said one attendee.

Another told WNCN, "Its not all about crime--there's a lot of love in the Bull City--that's what this event is showing."

Country, rock, R&B, gospel, bluegrass and more were showcased at the Carolina Theater.
