Suspicious Vehicle Leads To Wagener Police Officer's DUI Arrest

A reported suspicous vehicle in Batesburg, South Carolina has resulted in the arrest of an off-duty Wagener Police Department officer.

Aiken County Sheriff's Office investigators tell WJBF News Channel 6, early Friday morning, an Aiken County deputy arrested 30-year-old Craig Elliott Martin for DUI.

Around 3:36 a.m., the deputy saw a black Ford Crown Victoria driving in circles in the parking lot of the Kent's Korner, located at 1694 Old Ninety Six Indian Trail Road. The car was seen going behind the business and was parked by the trash dumpsters.

Investigators say the deputy made contact with Martin who told the deputy he is a Wagener Police officer and that the vehicle he was driving is a Wagener Police cruiser.

Martin was arrested for driving under the influence and taken to the Aiken County Detention Center. The police car was turned over to Wagener Police Department. The case is still under investigation.
