A major tree project on Augusta's Riverwalk is on hold.
In June, the Augusta Recreation, Parks, and Facilities Department proposed to cut and prune 300 tress to improve visibility at the park, after an assault in May
The work is expected to cost more than $180,000 and that money is not in the budget.
The city hopes to get it from the Downtown Development Authority.
Director Margaret Woodard says The DDA is in line for sales tax money, however those dollars won't be available until late this year or early next year.
