Man killed in Raleigh shooting identified

Posted: Updated:
RALEIGH, N.C. -

The man found shot to death inside a crashed car on Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard and Poole Road early Sunday morning was identified Monday as Travion Malikah Ragland, 18.

According to the Raleigh Police, "multiple suspects" were said to have run from the vehicle after the crash.

Ragland was found dead inside the car. The investigation remains ongoing and no arrests have been made. Raleigh Police responded to a report of shots being fired Sunday at 3:15 a.m.

Police say the death may be related to a report of shots fired near a Cookout restaurant in the 1200 block of New Bern Avenue earlier in the morning.

According to a News & Observer report from August 2011, Ragland had been charged then with assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill and other charges after firing a semiautomatic pistol into a vehicle.
