There's been a lot of talk about Georgia's young defense heading into Saturday's opener at Clemson. One guy on the Tigers who could take advantage of that defense hasn't been talked about all that much.
Junior Sammy Watkins was a breakout star as a freshman in 2011 hauling in 82 catches for 1219 yards and 12 touchdowns. But he dealt with a suspension and injuries last year, and he ended 2012 with just 708 yards and only 3 TDs.
Coaches and teammates are raving about Watkins this camp, and he's hoping to put last year in the past.
Watkins will be counted on more this season with Deandre Hopkins moving on to the NFL. Watkins says Deandre actually texted him some words of encouragement telling watkins to have a better season than he did last year. Hopkins had 1405 yards receiving and 18 TDs.
Clemson and Georgia kick off at 8:00 Saturday, and you can watch the game on WJBF News Channel. We'll have a 30 minute pregame special live from Clemson at 7:30.
