UDPATED ON 6: New Information Released ON Toddler's Near Drowning At Augusta Mall

We are learning new information on the a toddler's near drowning at the Augusta Mall on Wednesday.

Richmond County Sheriff's Office investigators, at approximately 4:50 pm, deputies responded to the Augusta Mall regarding a near drowning incident.

Upon deputies' arrival, it was discovered that 2-year-old Alayna Rose Ishmael had fallen into a water fountain nearby.

A nurse, who was shopping at the mall, pulled the girl from the fountain and started CPR. Investigators say EMS workers arrived within minutes and assisted with CPR on the child.

The child was transported to Georgia Regents Medical Center for treatment where she was revived and is now listed in critical condition.

There is no update regarding the child's condition as of Thursday afternoon. Investigators say there will be no criminal charges filed on the mother.

The WJBF News Channel 6 newsroom has learned that the Richmond County Sheriff's Office and EMS crews responded to a call at the Augusta Mall on Wrightsboro Road.

Sgt. McDaniel tells us that a 2-year-old fell into the fountains on the lower level of the mall near Sears. The child was transported to the Georgia Regents Medical Center Emergency Room.

We are told a nurse who was shopping at the mall began CPR on the child until EMS workers could arrive and take over performing CPR. At this time, the nurse's name has not been release, nor has the child's name been released.

At this time the child is said to be in critical but stable condition.

The case is still under investigation, but Richmond County Sheriff's Office investigators say, at this time, the mother of the child will not be facing any charges.
