Former Georgia State Schools Superintendent Linda Schrenko is scheduled to be released from home confinement on Thursday.
Schrenko, who is originally from Columbia County, was convicted in 2006 of embezzling money from the state Department of Education to use in her 2002 gubernatorial campaign, which she ultimately lost.
She was released from prison in March.
A Federal Bureau of Prisons spokesperson said Schrenko will still have to serve 3 years probation.
He could not say where Schrenko served her home confinement.
