Marine Photo Gone Viral

Posted: Updated:
Boise, ID -

A picture of a young couple has recently gone viral. And it continues to capture many hearts across the country, and even around the world.

Lara Spencer has the story.

They look like any cute couple in love, and at first glance, you might not even see why this photo has so many around the world buzzing.

But take a closer look and you see Kelly Cottle giving a piggyback ride to husband Jesse Cottle-- a double amputee.

Four years earlier, the 28 year old former marine lost both of his legs when  he stepped on an IED in Afghnaistan.

After spending months recovering in the hospital, Jesse met his future wife Kelly in San Diego, during one of his first outings with his new prosthetic legs.

Recently, they took a trip to visit Kelly's family in Boise, Idaho - where
they decided to have a family portrait taken.

The photographer posted the picture to her facebook page - where it went wildly viral.  Racking up thousands of likes, hundreds of shares and countless comments - all in awe of the couple's strength and resilience in the face of adversity.

"The photo really says it all. I actually look at it very much as a symbol for our whole relationship in general. She's physically carrying me, but there's time where she's carrying me emotionally. it's a perfect representation of who Kelly is."
