Saturday in Aiken County folks were giving back to the community in an effort to preserve the memories of two women who were murdered. It was the 3rd annual Back to School Bas, and organizers say the deaths of two local women, Angela Brooks and Nancy Cushman, serve as constant reminders of how important education and awareness are in Aiken County. Donated school supplies were given away and those involved say hope the supplies can change children's lives.
"Right now, I feel like our community needs it, the CSRA needs it," said Rosa Jean, event organizer. "So, we want to get together every year and a couple of other times throughout the year to show the kids that we care how they come out as adults."
Both of the murders remain unsolved.
