Where is the money going redeveloping Augusta's historic neighborhood, Augusta commissioners want to know.
Augusta's Housing Director says he needs two and a half million dollar loan to continue revitalization work in the Laney Walker area.
Three years ago the city bonded eight million dollars for the work but that money is running out.
Under Questions from the commission the housing director said his office has been spending more than -600- thousand dollars a year on project construction consultants and marketing.
"The staff of city government does not have the technical capacity within its own staff to deliver a sub division of those sort there's 11 hundred acres in Laney Walker Bethlehem you do not have that staff in house to deliver this kind of redevelopment and construction work it just doesn't exist," says Housing and Development Director Chester Wheeler.
Commissioners took no action on the loan request sending it back to committee in order to gets answers to how the redevelopment money is being spent
