Havelock opens season at number one in Touchdown Friday Top 9

Back-to-back defending 3A state champion Havelock opens the 2013 season as the number one team in the Touchdown Friday Top 9.

The Rams are led by runningback Derrell Scott and are big favorites to once again win the Coastal 3A title. Havelock takes on former Coastal rival Washington in week one on Friday.

Defending 4A state champion New Bern is number two in our poll. The Bears open the season on Friday hosting Durham Hillside.

Tarboro fell in the 2A state title game last season. The Vikings also drop to 1A this year and are ranked third in the first poll.

Southwest Onslow is fourth in the preseason poll. The Stallions won the 1AA state title last season.
