Thunderstorms, Heavy Rain Expected In The CSRA Tuesday Evening

The National Weather Service (NWS), in Columbia, South Carolina reports that scattered thunderstorms with heavy rain will impact portions of the CSRA through the evening hours of Tuesday.

The NWS says, with high moisture values in place over our area Tuesday, we can expect slow moving thunderstorms to produce heavy rains.

Rainfall rates of 2 to 4 inches per hour are possible which will produce flooding of roads...low lying areas...and streams.

Officials caution...do not drive through flooded areas as water may continue to rise or wash away part of the roads from underneath.

Emergency managers, law enforcement, Department of Transportation, and recreation agencies should stay abreast of the latest storm activity.

Prepare for the following:

  • Heavy rain
  • Flooding
  • Wind gusts of 30 mph to 40 mph
  • Pea-sized hail
