RALEIGH, N.C. -

One lane of I-40 West was closed Monday night after a rockslide in Western North Carolina happened Monday night in Haywood County near the Tennessee border.

The slide occurred near mile marker 7.

After assessing the slide site, N.C. Department of Transportation engineers have determined there is about 50 truckloads of debris to be removed.

Engineers from the NCDOT, including geotechnical engineers, expect to reopen I-40 West by noon on Tuesday.
