Augusta, GA (WJBF) -- Jaguars Head Men's Golf Coach Kevin McPherson says he had "no doubt" Patrick Reed would win on the PGA Tour. The former August State Jaguar and current PGA Tour rookie Patrick Reed picked up his first career win Sunday at the Wyndham Championship in Greensboro, North Carolina.
McPherson was an assistant with the ASU men's golf team when they captured back to back national titles in 2011. Reed was one of the key cogs in those teams going 6-0 in match play at the NCAA Championships. McPherson says he always knew Reed would win at golf's highest level because he has all the tools and "putts it better than anyone I've ever seen."
McPherson also says that Sunday's victory is great for the Jaguars golf program. On multiple occasions, the CBS announcers mentioned that Reed was a 2-time national champion at Augusta State. McPherson says they even got a plug in for Forest Hills.
The current Jaguars men's golf team begins their fall schedule at the Olympia Fields Fighting Illini Invitational (at Olympia Fields in Illinois home of the 2003 U.S. Open).
