NC Sen. Hagan defends record as foe uses billboard

RALEIGH, N.C. -

A Washington-based group seeking to elect Republicans to the U.S. Senate is using North Carolina billboards to take digs at Democratic incumbent Kay Hagan as she seeks a second term next year.

The National Republican Senatorial Committee announced this week it had put up several billboards in four metropolitan areas that contend Hagan has done little during her first 4½ years in the Senate. The billboards suggest support for President Obama's health care law as her only accomplishment.

The committee said Thursday that Hagan supported Obama's agenda nearly all the time while talking up governing from the middle.

Hagan spokeswoman Amber Moon said Friday the senator has had many bipartisan accomplishments, particularly on military matters, and that North Carolina residents know she's working to help middle class families.
