Update: Valley police looking for armed attackers who shot store clerk

Posted: Updated:
VALLEY, Ala. -

Valley police are no longer looking for a suspect vehicle in Thursday's shooting of a store clerk.

"The Valley Police Department is no longer considering the gold extended cab truck as a suspect vehicle," Major Mike Reynolds says in a news release Friday morning.

Police had put out the description of the truck Thursday after a store clerk was shot inside Triangle Service Station during an armed robbery.

Just before Noon Thursday, Valley police received a panic alarm from the gas station, located at 3346 US Highway 29. Upon arrivals, officers say they found the store clerk, Chuck Hudmon, on the floor and unresponsive. Hudmon had suffered a single gunshot wound.

Hudmon was taken to George H. Lanier Hospital. Once he regained consciousness, Hudmon was able to provide authorities with a description of his attackers. Police are looking for a tall, muscular black man wearing an orange shirt. The second suspect is described as a shorter man.

Valley Area Crime Stoppers is now offering a $2,000 award for any information that leads to an arrest. If anyone has information on the whereabouts of the suspects, they are asked to call Valley Police Department at 334-756-5200 or Valley Area Crime Stoppers at 337-765-820..
