The Richmond County Sheriff's Office has launched their new website.
Below, you can read the text of the release we received Thursday afternoon:
"We are pleased to announce today that the Sheriff's Office now has a full service web site that is available for use and may be viewed by visiting www.RichmondCountySheriffsOffice.com or www.RCSOGA.org," stated Sheriff Richard Roundtree. "This is another step towards interacting with the public through social media and improving transparency within the agency."
The website allows the public to learn about the various bureaus within the Sheriff's Office; obtain information on volunteer programs as well as full time employment; view officer memorials; learn about various safety techniques for personal, home and business protection; submit confidential tips to the Sheriff's Office; and has a questions & answer section with information listed that is frequently asked of the Sheriff's Office according, to Lieutenant Lewis Blanchard.
"The current site allows for interaction with the public and dissemination of information as well as emergency alerts which will display across the home page. Our future goals include "opt in" programs allowing for citizens to sign up for alerts regarding road closures, crime issues within a specific geographical location or for all of Richmond County. We will be working closely with the County IT Department and the 911 Communications Department regarding these future additions to the site." stated Lt. Blanchard.
The Sheriff's Office launched its Facebook page a few months back and now has over 6,000 followers. The website will allow for even more information to be easily and readily available to the public.
