Washington-Wilkes Hopes to Build of Big Season in '12

Posted: Updated:

Washington, GA (WJBF) -- Head Coach Robbie Robinson hopes his Washington-Wilkes Tigers can keep the momentum going after a solid season in 2012. In his 2nd year in charge, Robinson led the Tigers to a 10 win season after they won just 9 games in the previous 2 years combined. Among those 10 wins was a program defining victory over rival Lincoln County. It was just their 2nd win over the Red Devils in the last decade.

The Tigers did lose some key players including quarterback Buck Robinson, but Coach Robinson hopes the confidence gained from last year helps overcome the players lost.

The Tigers do have some interesting talent returning, including 6'5, 290 pound offensive lineman Nikita Fair. The junior moved from Ukraine his freshman year. We'll have more on Fair's story Friday night (Aug. 16) at 11:35 in our Football Friday Night Season Preview Special.
