EMERALD ISLE, N.C. -
Police are investigating the death of an Ohio man who was found floating in the water at Emerald Isle.

Police say 65-year-old David Bruce Bowman of Athens  had been swimming with his family Friday afternoon. Shortly after his wife returned to shore, witnesses reported seeing something floating in the water just off shore.

Mr. Bowman was pulled to shore by his wife and other bystanders and CPR was started. An ambulance transported Bowman to Carteret General Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Police are not sure whether or not any medical conditions may have played a role in this accident. The investigation will not be finalized until the Medical Examiners findings are released.
