According to Special Agent In charge Patrick Morgan, of the Georgia
Bureau of Investigation (GBI), the case of a 2012 hunter's death in Wilkes
County has now been closed.
The body of 35-year-old Jeffrey Shawn Gebhardt, of Blairsville, Georgia was found in the middle of an overgrown marshy area of the Clarks Hill Management Area, near Holiday Park, on September 22, 2012.
The Toombs County Grand Jury looked into the death and, based on the opinion of Georgia State Medical Medical Examiner Dr. Daniel Brown, decided that all of Gebhardt's wounds were self-inflicted.
Based on the GBI investigation and the Grand Jury's decision, the case has been closed.
The case can be re-opened by the Grand Jury and GBI if any new informaiton arises that sheds new light or insight into the death.
