NORTH AUGUSTA, SC (WJBF) - August 2nd marked the first day of practice for high school football teams in South Carolina, and most of our local teams hit the field early to beat the usual summer heat.
At North Augusta, expectations are always high and the fortunes of the Yellowjackets rest on the arm of junior signal caller Trib Reece. In 2012, Reece didn't start until halfway through the season when senior Cody Turner went down with an injury but still managed to throw for 1691 yards and 19 touchdowns.
And with his offensive line and receiving corps returning mostly intact - Reece feels a lot more comfortable under center.
"It's very nice," Reece said. "It's made the offseason and starting practice a lot easier having all the same guys from last year."
His coach Dan Pippin adds, "He's worked hard all summer long, all winter long and I think he's gotten a lot better. He's done every thing we've asked him to do and that's all you can do."
