The public is being asked to weigh in on a possible rehab center coming to south Augusta.
The proposed center would be located on 170 acres off Bennock Mill Road.
The lawyer representing the national group looking to establish the clinic says it would be a facility along the lines of the Betty Ford Center, with professional patients who have voluntarily sought treatment.
"It's going to be a high-end project, no threat to society. No violent type people will be allowed out there. It's not part of the criminal process, or the criminal punishment process at all...purely a treatment center...very upper end, very similar to Betty Ford," said Patrick Rice, the project's attorney.
Rice says a mandatory public hearing will be held Monday, August 5th at 3:30 p.m. on the 8th floor of the Augusta Municipal Building following the end of the Augusta-Richmond County Planning Commission meeting.
