Augusta, GA -

Veteran Scott Winkler won Bronze in Lyon, France on July 27, 2013 in men's shot put with a throw of 10.82 meters. Winkler said "I live by my motto ‘If you believe, you can achieve' and I achieved my goal of medaling at this international event in which the United States brought home the highest number of medals (52) and it is a great honor to wear my flag". Winkler also said he gives special thanks to his Coach Brandi Winkler, Chiropractor Dr. Chris Walker, Clinical Nutritionist Dr. Jason Mcrae DC and Trainer Randy Taylor.

Going forward Winkler continues training for 2015 Parapan Games to be held in Toronto, Canada. Scott Winkler is not new to the pressures and excitement of competing at this elite level; he placed fifth at shot put in the 2008 Beijing Paralympic Games and finished 13th in the shot put at the 2012 London Paralympic Games. "I am honored to continue to wear my country's uniform. I've said in the past there is no greater honor than winning on behalf of your country. I have dedicated my life to that belief, and do my best to continue to do so.

Winkler is Vice President of the Board of Directors for Champions Made From Adversity and is a Certified Level 1 U.S. Track & Field Coach. In addition to his own training, he teaches and mentors those who are interested in learning more about adaptive sports.
