School bus drivers in Columbia County are continuing their efforts to test their bus routes prior to Tuesday's start.
Every year they do this to ensure all runs smooth for the county's first day of school which is next Tuesday. They have 3 new schools this year and about 190 buses will be hitting the road every morning and afternoon. Officials we talked with say as of this morning the drivers seem ready for the new school year.
"We always have a plan because we're transporting approximately 13,000 students every morning, 13,000 again every afternoon and that's a lot of people to transport," said Dewayne Porter, Director of Transportation for Columbia County schools. "The more we plan, the better we feel about the outcome because it's so important that we know where every driver's going to be stopping and where every driver's going to be turning."
If you haven't seen them already, post cards will be popping up in Columbia County mailboxes with all of your students bus information.
