Police arrested John Franklin Alexander, 34, and charged him with murder in the death of Ella Davis, 58. According to an autopsy, Davis was stabbed.

Davis was found dead Tuesday at the Greens of Pine Glen Apartments where she lived near Interstate 40 and N.C. Highway 54.

The arrest warrants were served Thursday morning in the Harnett County Jail, where Alexander was being held on other charges. Those charges include possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, felony carrying a concealed firearm, two counts of trafficking controlled substances, two counts of resisting a public official, assault on a law enforcement officer, driving while impaired and possession of an open container.

Alexander was arrested Monday morning in Harnett County following a traffic accident. He was driving Davis' vehicle at the time.
