The Georgia Department of Labor has announced the unemployment rates for the month of June.
The Metro Augusta unemployment rate rose to 9. 3% in June, which is up 1.0% from 8.3% in May. In June 2012, the rate was 9.5%.
The CSRA unemployment rate also rose in June. It is now at 10.4%. That's up 1.1% from 9.3% in the month of May. In June 2012, the rate was 10.6%.
Officials say the rate increased due to two seasonal factors: a large number of education workers are unemployed during the summer months, and recent graduates are looking for jobs.
