The Salvation Army teamed up with Target today to help local students get ready for the upcoming school year.
Target awarded $81.00 gift cards to 15 students.
The recipients were chosen from various programs within the Salvation Army and got a chance to shop at Target to purchase school supplies and clothing.
Capt. Scott Lyles says they want students to feel confident when they head back to the classroom.
"It means a lot to them. A lot of them, they're all underprivileged kids and they wouldn't have this opportunity otherwise so we've gotten them school supplies , we're getting them backpacks, we're getting them new shoes, and those type of things, whatever they need."
Salvation Armies across Georgia distributed 310 gift cards in all for this annual event.
