Augusta, GA -

Officials with the Augusta Fire Department's Fire/Emergency Management Division have updated us on some of the roads in the county that were closed as a result of flooding, excessive water on the roads.

The below listed areas closed due river flooding will be reopened starting Wednesday:

The following areas are reopened:

  • The boat ramps and boating access points in Richmond County, except for Baurle Boat Ramp and 10th street
  • The lower walking paths on the Riverwalk will open Thursday morning, except the 10th Street access
  • Marina Road is open, including the lower parking area

The following areas will remain closed:

  • Lock and Dam Park and access to the Baurle Boat Ramp
  • 10th Street access to the Riverwalk and the boat ramp
  • Mims Road

"The boat ramps are back open but boaters should use extreme caution," stated Tonya Bonitatibus, with the Savannah Riverkeeper. "A large amount of snags and trees lie just below the surface of the water and the current is still quite strong. Please use extreme caution and wear your life jackets at all times."

Clean-up of the affected areas will be ongoing.

More information will be provided as it becomes available.
