Fayetteville police charge driver in fatal scooter crash

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. -

Fayetteville police have charged a woman in connection with a fatal accident Tuesday night involving a scooter.

The incident occurred just after 10 p.m. at the intersection of Raeford Road and Brighton Road. Police responded to the area in reference to a traffic accident.

An investigation showed that a Chrysler Crossfire driven by Erica McMillian, 33, was turning left onto Brighton Road from Raeford Road when a scooter hit the right side of the Chrysler.

The driver of the scooter, 50-year-old Jerry George, was transported to Cape Fear Valley Medical Center where he died of his injuries.

McMillian has been charged with misdemeanor death by motor vehicle and unsafe movement.
