A lawyer for the state department of social services says the state has ended the contract with Hewlett Packard.
H-P has been working for six years to build a statewide child support enforcement computer system. It is required by federal law.
But the lawyer says H-P had not met deadlines to test the system, and it was not going to be ready when it was supposed to be on September 18th.
So the state ended the contract and will now finish the system itself.
