Sheriff Richard Roundtree and the Richmond County Sheriff's Office will be hosting the first annual Kids & Cops Camp on Monday, July 29th.
The camp will be held from 8:00 a.m. until 3:30 p.m. in conjunction with the Boys & Girls Clubs of Augusta at the W.T. Johnson Center, located at 1610 Hunter Street, in Augusta.
Volunteer deputies from within all divisions will be assisting with the camp for the day. Additionally, there will have demonstrations from the Canine Division, Bomb Squad, and the motorcycles from the Traffic Division.
At 3:00 p.m., the closing ceremonies will be held where Sheriff Roundtree will speak with all of the children regarding the need for a good education and staying away from crime, drugs, and gangs. Each child will also be given a "Junior Deputy" badge from the Sheriff as well as a book bag with school supplies to start the school year off right.
