The Aiken County Sheriff's Office is currently investigating a shooting incident that occurred last night in the Aiken area.
On July 20, 2013 at approximately 11:34 pm, the Sheriff's Office received a 911 call from a witness about someone being shot that was lying in the street near 3001 Vaucluse Road. Responding Sheriff's deputies located the victim who appeared to have been injured from multiple gunshot wounds.
With the assistance of witnesses, Sheriff's Investigators were able to identify and locate the suspect, Demetris Williams, 27, of Aiken, at his residence on Eutaw Street.
The victim was transported by Aiken County EMS to the hospital for treatment for his injuries, where currently his condition is unknown.
The suspect was arrested and taken to the Aiken County Detention Center where he is expected to be charged with Attempted Murder and Possession of a Weapon During the Commission of a Violent Crime. This is an ongoing investigation.

Aiken County dispatch says one person is being transported to Georgia Regents for medical attention.
The Aiken County Sheriff's Office confirms that there was has been a shooting at 3001 Vaucluse Road in Aiken County.
That shooting happened shortly before midnight. EMS is on scene and the county has set up a perimeter.
One person was shot and one person has been arrested. Multiple individuals have been detained.
