Symphony Orchestra Augusta (SOA) invites the CSRA to help document the story of The Miller Theater by encouraging citizens to share their photos and stories of the historic theater.
A team of Symphony Orchestra Augusta staff and volunteers have been working diligently behind the scenes to bring The Miller back to life, and have reached the stage in the project when a compilation of historic photos, stories and memorabilia are needed. In respect of the legacy of this amazing structure, the Miller team will be documenting the past, present and future of the resurgence of the downtown Augusta entertainment district.
The Miller will be open for the public to stop by and share their memories of the historic theater on Tuesday, July 30th. This "Open Call" event will be held from 5:00-7:00 p.m. Members of the community can stop by to drop off pictures or memorabilia for the team to keep or to scan. Citizens with stories of interest to share can be interviewed by our documentary filmmaker. Tours will also be available. The theater is located at 708 Broad Street.
Anyone who cannot come by on that day is encouraged to email, mail or drop off mementos during business hours at the SOA office at Sacred Heart Cultural Center on Greene Street. Photos and information can also be emailed to TheMillerTheater@gmail.com or call the SOA office at 706-826–4705.
