A Savannah man is behind bars after calling police Tuesday afternoon while high on methamphetamine.

Agent Gene Harley with the Chatham-Savannah Counter Narcotics Team says Robert Boyles, 35, was home alone when he thought he heard voices and believed someone was in his home.

Fearing for his safety, Boyles found a hiding spot and called 911.

Metro Police responded to his Beaufort Road home where they searched for a possible burglar.

Instead they found supplies used to manufacture methamphetamine, Harley said.

Boyles was arrested and charged with a number of felonies and misdemeanors including manufacturing and trafficking methamphetamine and Unlawful Use of 911.

Boyles is being held at the Chatham County Detention Center after being denied bond during a court hearing Wednesday morning.

Harley said more arrests are likely forthcoming.
