It's the shark tale that has jaws dropping! Not "Jaws" the movie, but the jaws of voyeurs on a Nantucket Beach, mesmerized by a shirtless hunk wrestling one of the most feared predators in the ocean.
"I think people just kind of think I'm crazy. I mean it seems wild running in to water and grabbing a shark by it's tail," the wrangler says.
The twenty-four-year-old shark wrangler, Elliot Sudal, made plenty of waves when he jumped into the ocean and pulled out a 200 pound shark with his bare hands!
"This particular shark took about 45 minutes to get in That's when it gets really crazy because you got to run in the surf, grab him by the tail, and drag him backwards; and they don't really like that," Sudal explains.
Almost immediately the photos and video of Sudal man-handling the shark went viral. And, although shark catching isn't something new to him, he says this one was special.
"There was 20 people there watching me, and everyone was like 'you're crazy, you're crazy!' I guess I'm just used to it, so it wasn't too big of a deal, but, yeah, it was a good picture."
Sudal says fighting this shark was anything but easy.
"I was totally covered in sweat. I was tired. I was sandy. I had sand in my mouth. I was totally worn out by the end of that," he describes.
But this sharktastic daredevil says nothing can stop him from doing it all over again.
"I was going to go shark fishing today! If this whole thing didn't happen! I got out of work by noon. I was going to the gym. I was going to be shark fishing by five o'clock. But this is cool too. I'm not complaining," he laughs.
