Flooding Brings Out The Crowds at Riverwalk

Posted: Updated:

The flooded Savannah River is doing one big thing…drawing a crowd.

Riverwalk is packed with people coming to see the river.

The amphitheater stage is flooded and the city has closed off the lower level until further notice but the top walkway is still open.

And hundreds of people are turning out to see the spectacle.

"13 years and I've never seen the river like this in 13 years of course it's been dry those 13 years but it's amazing I don't know how high the level is but it's got to be eight to 10 feet above normal," says Tom Specht of North Augusta.

His daughter Jeri Green says there's just something neat about seeing the flooding, she doesn't "want to be in it but I like looking at it" she said with a smile.
