Augusta, GA (WJBF) -- The Peach Jam (and now 2 other tournaments in the area) attract many of the best high school basketball players in the southeast. That of course means many of the biggest names in college basketball coaches are here as well to check out the talent.
Some of those coaches started their week in the Augusta area by playing in the Nations of Coaches Golf Classic at The River Golf Club in North Augusta. We got the chance to talk to a number of the coaches including North Carolina's Roy Williams and Clemson's Brad Brownell both of whom had great things to say about the Peach Jam. Williams called it the premiere event in the summer basketball circuit. The Nike Peach Jam (that runs through Sunday at North Augusta's Riverview Park Activities Center) has spawned a couple other tournaments as well in the area over the next few days. The Peach State Summer Showcase will be going on Thursday through Sunday, and the Elite Youth Invitational, starts July 10. Games for those events will be played at basically every available gym in the area including Christenberry Fieldhouse and the Convocation Center.
