UPDATE ON 6: Escapee from Augusta Transitional Center Back in Police Custody

The man wanted for escaping from a Transition Center is back in police custody.

According to the Richmond County Sheriff's Office, Rashad Jackson had escaped from the Transition Center and was seen walking east of 6th Street yesterday. Jackson is charged with Aggravated Assault, possession of a weapon during the commission of crime, and other weapons charges.


An inmate is on the loose after escaping from Augusta Transitional Center.

According to officials, the man was last seen on 6th Street in Augusta around 3 a.m. Wednesday morning. He's said to be traveling on foot.

Officials say the inmate is a black male, 22 years old, 5'10 and weighs approximately 175 pounds.

In the past, the man has allegedly been charged with aggravated assault, armed robbery, and terroristic threats, among others.
