SC Criticized in "Silent Tears" Report

Columbia, S.C. -

A recent report, called "Silent Tears", criticized South Carolina for not properly training the people who are supposed to protect your children.

State leaders say their plan includes educating legal system workers, and passing laws to get child abuse cases to the courtroom sooner.

Governor Nikki Haley spoke out Monday about her child abuse experience when she was younger.

"I am a victim of child abuse from a childcare provider when I was little. And when it happened to me by parents didn't know what to do. They didn't know who to go to. No one knew how to handle it."

South Carolina leaders want to see five designated programs in every county, so victims and their families know where to go and get help.
