Parents in the Pine Oaks Mobile Home Park are feeling the shock of what happened here today.
"All of a sudden we heard a woman screaming and my little girl, my oldest girl turned to me and hollered at me. And when I got down there the child was blue. And the mama was screaming, 'oh god, please no, oh lord help me, help me please'," said neighbor Tonya Smith.
The family had reported the little boy missing around 2:15 p.m. Tuesday, but it was shortly after that call that they made the horrific discovery. The boy's body was inside the car parked outside the home. The death assumed to be heat related. Difficult for the parents in this neighborhood to even think about.
"I don't want to put myself in that place, and I'm sorry that they are going to be in that situation cause I guarantee you, they are in something that no one needs to go through," says neighbor Kenny Smith.
Police are not releasing the family's or the child's. The body was taken to the state Department of Forensic Sciences for an autopsy. Officials results may take up to six months.
