After lying dormant for over a year, the Alabama Cruise Terminal certainly has seen a lot of action so far this year! We were there as it rolled into Mobile and talked with some folks who showed up to pick up their loved ones.
Benard and Clementine Smith came in to Mobile to pick up their son and his wife after they went to Jamaica on the Carnival Cruise Ship Conquest.
"And he's paying for everything, so it don't matter to me! Haha, he got it covered!" says Benard.
The Smith's were on their way to New Orleans when they got the call to turn around and head to Mobile. But despite the change in plans, they say their son still had a great time.
"Oh yeah, we heard them laughing and going on so they enjoyed it," says Clementine.
Hanah Odom was picking up her mom, who is from Mobile, but was a little disappointed they wouldn't be back in Louisiana.
"We had a playdate planned in New Orleans, so, but the rain probably would have messed it up anyway," says Odom.
After rough weather on the cruise, Odom says her mom will be happy to see her family again.
"She's ready to get home and I'm a real mama's girl, so I'm ready to see my mama," says Odom.
And her dog…
"That's what she was like, she's like, I'm ready to see my four-legged daughter!"
Sandy Parten has been on several Carnival Cruises and plans to board the Conquest in October to head to Belize and Honduras.
"I'm a platinum member with Carnival and I feel safe with Carnival, they treat you right, no problems," says Parten.
The conquest will be docked in mobile until tomorrow when it will leave for another week long cruise in the Bahamas. We understand those passengers will be bused from New Orleans to mobile.
Passengers arriving today as well as the passengers coming in for next week's cruise will be reimbursed pay for one day since they will lose a day from each voyage.
