McCrory will not talk about abortion bill

Posted: Updated:

Gov. Pat McCrory will not talk about what he would do if lawmakers send him a bill to restrict abortions in North Carolina.
The Charlotte Observer reported McCrory would not say Thursday if he would sign the bill into law. He was at a July Fourth parade in the Rowan County town of Faith.
The North Carolina Senate approved the restrictions Wednesday. The bill now goes to the House.
The bill would require abortion clinics to meet tougher standards similar to those for outpatient surgery clinics.  Opponents say that would effectively close most of the state's 16 abortion clinics.
McCrory has criticized the way the Senate handled the bill.
He had said during his election campaign that he would not sign a bill with further abortion restrictions.
