UPDATED ON 6: 2-Year-Old Dies After Being Hit By Vehicle In Wagener

The Aiken County Sheriff's Office has released more information concerning a 2-year-old Wagener, South Carolina boy who was hit and killed by a vehicle Thursday afternoon.

Investigators say, on July 4th, at about 2:59 p.m., deputies and first responders were dispatched to 273 Gravin Drive, in Wagener, for a report of a child being struck by a vehicle that was driven by the child's father, 29-year-old Patrick Ryan Eagerton.

The child was treated by Aiken County EMS on the scene, transported to Pelion Airport and flown to Richland Memorial Hospital for treatment. Investigators have initially determined that there is nothing suspicious at this time about this case and it appears to be an accident. This is still an on-going investigation.

Aiken County Coroner Tim Carlton tells WJBF News Channel 6, a 2-year-old child died on July 4th after being hit be a vehicle at his residence.

The child has been identified as Ryan Eagerton, who was pronounced dead Thursday afternoon at 4:18 p.m. at Richland Memorial Hospital, in Columbia. The child was transported to the hospital by helicopter after being struck by a vehicle at the family's residence.

The driver of the vehicle was the child's father, Patrick Eagerton, of Wagener. Circumstances related to this tragic accident are under investigation, however no foul play or suspicious circumstances are suspected at this time, according to Carlton.
