Deputies Involved In Deadly Tasing Incident Identified

The Richmond County Sheriff's Office has identified the deputies involved in a tasing incident in which a man died.

The incident happened Saturday night at the Chevron station located on the 1500 block of Gordon Highway at Olive Road. George Harvey, 38, died after suffering an apparent heart attack after deputies trying to apprehend him got into a struggle with him and tased him.

The deputies involved have been identified as:

  • Deputy Mathew Sanderson  (Employed March 21, 2009 - Present)
  • Deputy Prizette Presberry (Employed November 1, 2008 - Present)
  • Deputy Chadrick Scott (Employed October 18, 2008 - Present)

On Monday, an autopsy was performed on Harvey at the Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) Crime Lab in Decatur. The results of the autopsy are pending toxicology testing. The case remains under investigation by the GBI Region 7 Field Office.
