New York City -

Famed chef and Food Network star Paula Deen apologized Friday after admitting she has used racial slurs.

"I want to apologize to everybody...for the mistakes that I have made," Deen said in a video statement.

The video was posted online Friday afternoon and featured a tearful Deen. She called the use of racial slurs "hurtful".

The revelation came earlier this week came from a deposition related to a lawsuit involving her brother. In the deposition, Deen was asked if she had ever used the "N" word. Her response started with "of course".

Deen's brother is being sued by a former restaurant manager for racial and sexual harrassment.

The apology and another one released later Friday were not enough for her to keep her Food Network Gig, though.

Late Friday afternoon, Food Network officials said they are not renewing Deen's contract, which expires at the end of June.
